The Gateway Middle School, serving 6th to 8th grade students, seeks candidates for the 2024-2025 school year who are enthusiastic about joining a collaborative teaching team, participating in curriculum development, overseeing the academic and social growth of a group of advisees, and assisting in school life generally. The Middle School Research teacher will join our Middle School team as a teacher and homeroom advisor, and teach a research writing course to students in 6th through 8th grade. The position involves developing curriculum, delivering instruction, and collaborating with middle school team members. The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher with a background in Social Studies, English Language Arts, Elementary Education, and/or Secondary Education or Special Education and a commitment to teaching students with language-based learning disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education or Education required
- Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education or English preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching students age 8 or older
- Independent school and special education teaching experience preferred
- Training in and/or experience teaching using The Hochman Method (The Writing Revolution) highly preferred
- Proficiency with the use of technology for teaching and learning
- Effective classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience implementing direct, explicit, multisensory instruction
- Demonstrated commitment to, and experience with, diversity, equity, and/or inclusion work.
The Gateway School offers a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive professional development program. Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000.
