Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy Bronx offers students an alternative opportunity to prepare for college and career by achieving their Regents H.S. diploma through Performance Based Assessment Tasks. In our community students enter without labels and are appreciated as learners on the path to success. We are a part of the NYS Consortium allows for a waiver for Consortium schools to offer alternative assessments in lieu of standardized testing. Our program has been in existence for over 40 years under one school “Satellite Academy”. In 2010, all 4 campuses became their own schools and the Bronx site now became Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy Bronx. In the spirit of our name sake, Arturo A. Schomburg, we reinforce the skills necessary for students to develop essential research skills necessary to compete in college and/or their career. We are a small community of approximately 200-230 students that value respect for all, a zero tolerance for violence, and group work throughout the course of their academic career at Satellite.
