What is the Role?

Coney Island Prep is looking for an amazing Upper Elementary School Special Education Teacher to join us for the 2021-2022 school year! Located in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, our upper elementary school was founded in 2019 and operates grades third through fifth grade. Teachers work side by side with their co-teacher teaching engaging lessons created from research-based, standards aligned, curriculum (Wit & Wisdom/Amplify Reading/Quill for English language arts, Engage/Zearn for math, and Amplify for science). These curricula aim to serve as windows and mirrors for our students to help them understand more about the world and themselves.

What is it like to teach with us? Great question! Teachers share a classroom with another teacher, their co-teacher, and an Apprentice Teacher that supports multiple classrooms throughout the day. As a homeroom teacher, teachers teach all core subjects, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. At CIPUES, there are varied methods of delivering instruction to scholars, including individual scholar counseling, small group work, parallel teaching, as well as whole group teaching.
